How African Dowry Works

Welcome to African Dowry!

African Dowry is a new type of wedding gift list, and a wonderful and unique way to celebrate your marriage whilst supporting FARM-Africa’s important work. It gives your friends and family a way to make a long lasting change to reflect the longevity of your marriage.

You can set up an African Dowry gift list on its own, or in conjunction with a more traditional gift list to give your loved ones a choice in how they celebrate your marriage. It's up to you!

You simply set a fundraising target, and invite your guests to contribute to it as they wish, by choosing from your gift list.  An example gift list showing what different donation amounts could achieve can be viewed by clicking on the link on the left.

Once they have made their purchase your guests will receive a thankyou email, and you will be alerted to their gift so that you may thank them in your own way should you wish.  The website will also show them how they have contributed to your fundraising target.

After your wedding, you can then log into your gift list and click on the send final email link  This will send you an email with details of the all gifts that you have been bought, so that you can personally thank your family friends as you wish.

FARM-Africa will use the donations to support a whole range of our work improving the livelihoods of some of the world’s most vulnerable farmers.  More details of our work can be found by clicking here or by visiting the FARM-Africa website.
